Our mission is to glorify God through expressing our love to God in worship. Worship at First Mennonite begins with a gathering of imperfect believers and inquirers* on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary. We gather to express our love for God in as many ways as we can think of. Currently the ways include speaking, singing, praying, reading scripture, a special time with the children, offering, special sharing times, communion, and anointing. All ages and stages of life are represented and involved. We recognize that worshipping God is not a “Sunday morning only” activity and we strive to express our love and gratitude to God with all we are and all we have at all times.
Worship & Music Style
Hymns accompanied by organ or piano, contemporary songs led by a worship band, folks songs led by a bluegrass band – all are songs of faith in our worship services. String ensembles, instrumental descants, or special vocal music groups participate on any given Sunday. An adult choir shares selections two Sundays a month from September through April and every three years we give a worshipful presentation of the Christmas section of Handel’s Messiah.
