First Mennonite Church delights in children. We provide a safe and joyful environment in which children are nurtured in faith and life. Sunday School classes for children of every age, Wednesday night activities for eight weeks in the fall and eight weeks in the spring, and summer Vacation Bible School are the formal children’s ministries of our congregation. But children also have a time of their own during worship, and they lead the whole congregation on Christmas Eve. We celebrate births with the gift of a Bible, and we celebrate adolescence with the gift of another. Children are known and cared for at First Mennonite Church.
For the safety of our children, First Mennonite has developed a comprehensive policy for adult/child interactions called “Safe Sanctuaries.” Download the Safe Sanctuaries policy here. We also regularly teach our children the concept of their “Circle of Grace,” which helps to form and educate both children and youth about the value of positive and healthy relationships with God and with others.
